A child and a parent first view a messy bedroom as cluttered, and then in a second frame the same bedroom is seen through imaginative play as a jungle safari.

Play Therapy at Larkspur Counseling

Children often communicate through play long before they have the words to explain how they feel. Play therapy, which can include expressive arts, uses creativity and imagination to help children and teens explore emotions, build coping skills, work through anxiety or difficult experiences, and navigate changes such as divorce, family transitions, or challenges at school. My approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed, allowing each child to express themselves in ways that feel natural to them rather than expecting them to simply “talk it out.”

Through my decades of experience working with children, I understand how important it is to meet children at their developmental level and create a space where they feel comfortable being themselves. With the right space and support, kids can build the confidence and communication skills to be the best version of themselves.
